At least nine miners have been trapped in a copper mine collapse in southern Peru, local media report.

The mine in the tiny town of Quilque, in Peru's southern Ica state, caved in on Thursday.

Local police were working to coordinate a rescue team to free the men, the reports said.

The miners were receiving water and air through a hose, which also allowed them to maintain contact with rescuers.
