A magnitude 6.4 earthquake occurred off the coast of Tonga on Saturday night.
The US Geological Survey says it happened just after 10pm (NZ time) off the south coast of the island of Vava'u, at a depth of about 130km.
There were no reports of damage and no tsunami warning was issued.
The Geological Survey initially said the quake was magnitude 6.7.
