At least seven people were killed and nearly 40 injured when a tourist bus bound for Tokyo Disneyland crashed.
Police say the bus smashed against a roadside wall on the Kanetsu Expressway before dawn 100km northwest of Tokyo.
According to local media, the bus left Kanazawa, 300km northwest of Tokyo, late on Saturday, the first day of Japan's Golden Week spring holiday season.
