Fatal flash flood

7:04 am on 6 May 2012

A river in western Nepal has burst its banks, killing at least 13 people near Mount Annapurna, an area popular with tourists.

A search operation is underway to find dozens of people living beside the Seti River who were swept away with their livestock.

Three Russian tourists trekking in the region are among the missing.

An avalanche on Annapurna reportedly caused the river to back up before it burst its banks, at about 9.30am on Saturday.
