Suncorp will no longer offer new policies in two towns in Queensland until flood mitigation works are carried out.

The ABC reports Roma, in southern inland Queensland, and Emerald in the central region, have been devastated by major flooding in recent years.

Suncorp says it has paid $A150 million in claims there and no new policies will be offered until levees are built.

Suncorp is the biggest insurer in Queensland.
