In Britain, former editor of the News of the World Sunday newspaper, Rebekah Brooks, is to be charged with perverting the course of justice.
Ms Brooks was arrested on March 13 as part of a police investigation into media phone-hacking.
She and her husband Charlie Brooks, who has also been charged, have revealed the charges ahead of an official announcement by the British Crown Prosecution Service.
The Leveson inquiry into media ethics has heard from Ms Brooks, her boss, Rupert Murdoch and others about what they knew or did not know about reporters accessing the mobile phone voicemails of celebrities and crime victims.
Ms Brooks has denied knowing that the phone of a murdered schoolgirl was hacked while she was editor.
