Safe landing without parachute

9:28 am on 24 May 2012

A stuntman in England has became the first person to jump out of a helicopter at 732 metres and land without using a parachute.

Gary Connery, 42, used a special wingsuit to make the leap above Oxfordshire on Wednesday. He helped develop the suit, which enabled him to glide through the air.

It was the first time anyone has successfully jumped from such a height without deploying a parachute.

Connery plunged earthwards at speeds of almost 130km per hour before the wingsuit came into play. He landed on a "runway" of about 18,000 cardboard boxes.
