A magnitude 5.6 earthquake occurred off Indonesia's Sumatra island on Tuesday night, but there are no immediate reports of damage or casualties.
The US Geological Survey said the quake struck 75km west of Banda Aceh just after 9pm (AEST) on Tuesday at a depth of more than 35km.
People ran from their homes as the ground shook for about 30 seconds.
