Death of last member of 1950s group

The last surviving original member of the 1950s vocal group the Platters, has died in Boston.

Herb Reed, 83, was the only member to have sung on every one of their 400 recordings and was still touring last year.

Their hit songs included Smoke Gets in Your Eyes, Only You, Twilight Time and the Great Pretender which demonstrated their smooth, sophisticated harmonies.
