Kayakers in the western United States have found part of a Japanese house on a beach near Seattle. It had washed across the Pacific since last year's tsunami.

The three kayakers found a pile of timber, some of it nailed together and stamped with a serial number traced to a mill in the city of Osaka.

A few weeks ago a 20 metre concrete dock from Japan washed up on a western beach in the United States after being torn away by the tsunami and floating across the Pacific.

This was preceeded by the arrival of a Harley Davidson in April.
