The conflict in Syria spilled into Lebanon on Saturday when mortar fire from government forces hit villages in the north, killing at least three people. The incidents occurred in the Wadi Khaled region.

Artillery shells from across the border landed on farm buildings at around 2am. More explosions were reported at around midday.

Rebels have used northern Lebanon as a base and villages there have been bombed.

There have recently been clashes between armed men on the Lebanese side and the Syrian military.
