Armstrong lawsuit dismissed

A federal judge has dismissed a lawsuit against the United States Anti-Doping Agency by seven-time Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong.

US District Judge Sam Sparks says the claim filed Armstrong's lawyers smacked of a public relations exercise.

But he said he is not ruling on the merits of the lawsuit adding Armstrong is welcome to resubmit it.

Armstrong has until Saturday to challenge the charges through a hearing with an arbitration panel or accept sanctions.

Armstrong won the Tour de France from 1999 - 2006 and has since retired from cycling. He could be stripped of his triumphs and banned from the sport for life if convicted.
