Springsteen and McCartney silenced on stage

Bruce Springsteen and Paul McCartney found themselves silenced on stage when performing at an open-air concert in London, after event organisers decided they had exceeded their permitted time and were in breach of a noise curfew.

Springsteen had been playing for more than three hours at Hyde Park before he invited Sir Paul onto the stage to sing. Together they belted out Twist and Shout and I Saw Her Standing There.

But their microphones were turned off before they could thank the crowds and both had to leave the stage in silence.

A BBC reporter who was at the concert said it made for a slightly bizarre end to what had been a fantastic show.
