Police in the American state of Texas say three people have been killed and several wounded in a shooting near the city of College Station.
The dead include a police officer and the gunman.
A local radio station says the officer killed was serving an eviction notice when the suspect opened fire.
The attack happened within two streets of Texas A&M University. The university issued a warning to staff and students to avoid the area, saying a gunman was firing from inside a house.
On the police scanner, a dispatcher told officers, "We have two officers down that we know of and one female that's been shot in her vehicle."
The extent of victims' injuries is not immediately clear.
