NT railway bridge closed

The Edith River bridge near Katherine in the Northern Territory of Australia is closed for a week while repairs are carried out.

The ABC reports two girders are being replaced on the bridge, which was brought down last year by the derailment of a freight train during record flooding associated with tropical Cyclone Grant.

The line was closed for nearly two months while temporary girders were installed. It connects the Darwin railway to the rest of Australia.
