Updated at 6:05 am on 19 August 2012

At least 13 suspected Taliban members have been killed by NATO air strikes in the east Afghan province of Kunar, which lies on the border with Pakistan.

The BBC reports Kunar border areas have come under heavy shelling from the Pakistani side in recent months. Afghanistan and Pakistan accuse each other of failing to stop infiltrators.

The air strikes occurred in the Chapa Dara district of Kunar.
