Two suspected terrorists have been killed by police in Indonesia. Another was wounded in an ambush outside a supermarket in the city of Solo in central Java, on Friday night.

A member of Densus 88, the anti-terror aquad, was killed during the fighting.

Police said they were investigating the possibility the three men had connections to Jamaah Ansharut Tauhid, a terrorist group founded by Abu Bakar Bashir, a Muslim cleric.

A policeman was killed by unidentified gunmen in Solo on Thursday night.

And a grenade was thrown at a police post in Gladak, also in Solo, on 18 August.

D88 was formed after the Bali bombings which occurred on 12 October, 2002, when 202 people were killed.
