The government of Jordan has increased the amount of money it needs to cope with an influx of refugees from Syria.
More than 180,000 people have now fled across the border as fighting continues between the government of President Bashar al Assad and rebel forces. The number is expected to rise.
In an appeal issued jointly with the United Nations refugee agency, Jordan said it urgently needs $US700 million.
