A hacker group is claiming to have obtained personal data from 12 million Apple iPhone and iPad users by breaching an FBI computer.
The AntiSec group, which is linked to Anonymous, posted one million Apple user identifiers claimed to be part of a larger group of 12 million, saying they were obtained from an FBI laptop.
Apple did not immediately respond to a request for comment but social media and news blogs are agog with the news.
Geekosystem, a tech blog, called it "one of the worst privacy disasters yet" and various Twitter comments say the news suggests the FBI is tracking Apple users.
