Black singer finally wins South African talent show

It's taken eight seasons, but a South African talent show has finally crowned its first black winner.

Idols South Africa has faced accusations of racism in the past over the fact that it's taken so long for a black singer to win.

Now Khaya Mthethwa, 23, a soul singer from Durban, has done so.

The ABC reports changing economic conditions and a clever grassroots support campaign finally made it possible, along with a good deal of talent.
