The leader of Hizbollah in Lebanon said on Thursday that the group was behind the launch of a drone which was shot down over Israel last weekend.

Sheikh Hassan Nasrallah told the al-Manar television network that the drone was made in Iran and assembled in lebanon.

Israeli fighter planes shot down the drone over an uninhabited area north of the Negev desert, after it flew 55km inland last Saturday.

The drone, which did not carry any explosives, was destroyed.

The BBC reports unmanned aircraft operated by Hizbollah have been detected over Israeli territory on at least three occasions.
