Flying Doctor hits kangaroo

6:34 am on 20 October 2012

A Royal Flying Doctor Service plane has been grounded after a close call with a kangaroo.

The plane was damaged when it hit the kangaroo while landing at Mount Allan Station, about 300km north-west of Alice Springs.

The RFDS says a second plane transferred a patient the plane was carrying within hours.

RFDS services to Central Australia will not be affected.
