Kurdish rebels have claimed responsibility for the bombing of a natural gas pipeline in eastern Turkey.

The BBC reports the blast halted the flow of gas from Iran and also wounded 28 soldiers who were driving past in a military vehicle.

The bombing happened near the town of Eleskirt, in Agri province. It was the second such incident in a month on the pipeline.

Accoring to the Anatolian news agency, Agri governor Mehmet Tekinarslan said security has been increased along the pipeline, but it remains unclear when gas flows will resume.
