Police investigating the shooting of a family in the French Alps believe a cyclist also found dead at the scene was shot first.

According to a leaked provisional scenario leaked to Le Parisien newspaper, Sylvain Mollier, 45, was hit by the first bullets.

The killer then shot Saad al-Hilli, 50, his wife and mother-in-law while they sat in their car.

The BBC reports the family from Surrey were on a camping holiday on the shores of Lake Annecy when they were killed on 5 September.

A girl, aged four, was found hiding under the skirts of her dead mother and grandmother in the vehicle the following day. An older child was also found shot and wounded.
