Fire crews in the English city of York had to free a lorry after it became stuck under a medieval gateway on Thursday night.

The Marks & Spencer lorry was travelling through the central arch of the 12th-century Micklegate Bar when it got stuck.

The BBC reports Micklegate Bar is one of four medieval gateways into the city. It has a height restriction of 8ft 6in (2.59m).

The City of York Council said there was no structural damage to the arch.
