Punk band members sent to prison camps

Two members of Pussy Riot are on their way to prison camps far from home.

Conditions are reported to be tough at the camps in Perm and Mordovia. They were used as prison colonies in the Soviet era.

Maria Alyokhina, 24, and Nadezhda Tolokonnikova, 22, were sentenced in August to prison for two years for singing a crude anti-Putin song in a cathedral in Moscow on 21 February.

Yekaterina Samutsevich, a third member of the punk band, was freed on 10 October when her sentence was suspended on appeal.
