More than 63,000 people have visited a public sex offender website in Western Australia in the past seven days.

The ABC reports the website was launched a week ago with details of convicted child sex offenders, including their photos and the areas in which they live.

Police say more than 20,000 people have requested photographs of sex offenders living in their area.

Two people made requests to check with police about someone who has regular, unsupervised contact with their children.
