FDA investigating energy drink

The US Food & Drug Administration is investigating reports of five deaths that may be linked to Monster Energy, an energy drink.

The company that produces the drink is being sued by the family of a girl, aged 14, who say she died after drinking two cans of Monster Energy in 24 hours.

Monster Beverage Corp of Canada is fighting the suit and says it does not believe its drink is responsible in any way for the death.

Monster is the leading energy drink by volume in the United States with nearly 39% of the market, but Red Bull has the highest share by revenue due to its premium price.
