University students from England pay more in Australia than in any other country.

In a report by HSBC, Australia tops the table with average annual costs for 2012-13 of $A31,040.

The United States is the second most expensive place to study, followed by Canada and then Britain.

AAP reports the research found students in Australia had the highest living costs of any country at $A12,736, $A3106 higher than any other nation.

Exchange rates were blamed for the high cost for English students, with a 7% rise in the value of the Australian dollar against the pound.

Then there is also the cost of flights for those coming to Australian universities from England.
