UN official expelled by South Sudan

South Sudan has expelled a UN official who was carrying out an investigation into human rights there.

A government spokesman said the investigator had published "unethical" reports which had no truth in them.

UN officials said the expulsion could be related to a report published in August which accused the army of torture, rapes, killings and abductions.

Hilde Johnson, head of the UN mission in South Sudan, said she had sought an explanation from the government in South Sudan's capital, Juba.
