Australia suspends live animal exports to Pakistan

Australia has suspended the export of live animals to Pakistan, after a graphic video showed 21,000 sheep being brutally slaughtered there.

The video, broadcast on Australian television on Monday, showed many of the sheep were still alive after being thrown into pits.

The animals from Western Australia were sent to the port city of Karachi after permission to land them in Bahrain was refused because of disease concerns, the ABC reports.

Pakistan says the animals were infected.
