An Australian stamp collection has sold for more than £2.2 million at an auction in London.
The collection of rare Commonwealth stamps was started by civil engineer William Morgan of Adelaide and continued by his son.
Spink auction house said on Wednesday the collection was sold in more than 740 lots over two days.
AAP reports that two unfranked two-shilling stamps featuring an etched kangaroo over an outline of Australia, were among the hottest items.
The pair sold for £84,000, almost £50,000 more than estimated.
The top lot at the sale was a single 10-shilling stamp featuring the same design - although missing the outline of Tasmania - in a brown buff shade. This sold for £108,000.
