Evictees arrested in Cambodia

5:05 am on 16 November 2012

Police in Cambodia have arrested at least eight people for painting messages on their homes asking for help from United States President Barack Obama, because they face eviction before he visits the country next week.

Those arrested are among about 180 people who live in villages near the airport in Phnom Penh.

Residents say they were told to move out because of security concerns when world leaders, including Mr Obama, arrive for summit meetings.

They have not been offered compensation for losing their homes.
