A territorial dispute in the South China Sea has flared again.
Vietnam and the Philippines have condemned new passports issued by China that include a map showing several disputed maritime areas as belonging to Beijing.
The islands depicted include the Paracel Islands, which are claimed by Vietnam, and the Spratly Islands, part of which are claimed by the Philippines.
The ABC reports it was not clear when China began printing the new passports but the foreign ministry said they meet international standards.
