A Taliban suicide bomber killed at least 23 people at a Shia Muslim procession in the city of Rawalpindi in Pakistan.
The bomber targeted the marchers as they approached a mosque near the city centre on Wednesday. The BBC reports another 62 people were wounded.
Police said they attempted to stop and search the bomber who then blew himself up. The force of the blast ripped a hole in the wall of the mosque.
Shias are marking the holy month of Muharram.
The bombing was the deadliest in Pakistan since 29 people were killed in the northwestern tribal district of Khyber on 16 June.
