Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez is in a complex and delicate condition after his latest surgery for cancer in Cuba, his vice-president says.
In an address to the nation, vice president Nicolas Maduro urged Venezuelans to unite in prayer for their 58-year-old president, and to keep faith that Mr Chavez would return soon.
The surgery was the president's fourth operation since he was taken ill last year and was carried out in Cuba.
On Sunday, in his first public acknowledgement that he might have to step down, Mr Chavez said the 50-year-old vice president and foreign minister would take over if he becomes incapacitated, Reuters reports.
