A researcher in Denmark has discovered a previously unknown fairy tale by the children's author Hans Christian Andersen.
The story was found at the bottom of a box near Andersen's birthplace of Odense, the BBC reports.
Called The Tallow Candle, it is about a candle that is neglected until its inner beauty is recognised and ignited.
Experts believe Andersen wrote it while still at school, in the 1820s. The script is thought to be a copy of the original manuscript.
Hans Christian Andersen wrote hundreds of fairy tales, including The Ugly Duckling and The Little Mermaid, which have been translated into more than 100 languages.
