Anti-vaccine group ordered to change name

The New South Wales Fair Trade Commissioner has ordered an anti-vaccine network in Australia to find a new name in the new year.

Fair Trading Minister Anthony Roberts on Saturday confirmed a formal order had been issued for the Australian Vaccination Network to adopt a new name.

He said the directive from NSW Fair Trading Commissioner Rod Stowe gave the group until 21 February to apply for a new name.

AAP reports that if the association misses the deadline, its registration may be cancelled.

In a statement Mr Roberts said:

"The Australian Vaccination Network does not present a balanced case for vaccination, does not present medical evidence to back its claims and therefore poses a serious risk of misleading the community."
