A boat with 56 suspected asylum seekers and three crew has been discovered in Australian waters.
AAP reports it was intercepted northeast of the Ashmore Islands by HMAS Bathurst on Friday.
Border Protection Command said the passengers had been transferred to Christmas Island for security, health and identity checks.
