Daycare centre court case to resume

10:14 am on 18 December 2012

Court proceedings relating to a fatal fire at a daycare centre in Doha are to resume late on Tuesday.

The fire in May killed 19 people, 13 of them children, including New Zealand triplets, aged two years.

The centre's owner and other defendants are facing trial.

Reporter Shabina Khattri, told Morning Report the judge will rule on a request for charges to be put against a Nike shop, below the daycare centre.

That was where the fire started and staff there failed to put it out.

She said the case will drag on while it is determined which charges will be applied to which defendant.
