Fiji power woes persist after Cyclone Evan

Disaster officials in Fiji say it will be up to three weeks before electricity services are fully restored in the Western Division, which includes much of the main island of Viti Levu.

The region was badly hit when Cyclone Evan struck nearly two weeks ago.

The director of the National Disaster Management Office, Manasa Tagicakibau, says full power and water services are now on in the Northern Division, but it is a different story in the West.

Manasa Tagicakibau says there are still about 1200 people staying in emergency shelters.
