Canberra to remember 2003 fires

5:43 am on 18 January 2013

Canberra will remember the 2003 fatal bushfires on Friday with a low key commemoration service.

A bushfire killed four people and destroyed more than 500 houses on the city's western edge on 18 January, 2003.

The service will have the theme of reflection, inspiration, and looking forward.

It will take place at 10am AEDT at the ACT bushfire memorial on the corner of Uriarra and Cotter Roads in Weston. ACT Chief Minister Katy Gallagher will attend.
