A Pakistani schoolgirl who was shot in the head by the Taliban has had further surgery in Britain.

Malala Yousafzai, 15, was shot on a bus in October after campaigning for girls' rights to education.

A bullet was removed from her head by surgeons in Pakistan, before she was flown to Britain for further treatment.

Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham says a titanium plate and cochlear implant were successfully attached in two operations on Saturday. The surgery lasted five hours.

Afterwards, she was in a stable condition.
