Power still off after blizzard

6:45 pm on 11 February 2013

About 350,000 properties are still without power because of a weekend blizzard in the north-east United States.

At least nine people have died in the storm, which caused five states along the east coast to declare states of emergency.

Flights were beginning to return to normal on Sunday, but other travel remains disrupted.

Travel bans in the states of Connecticut and Massachusetts have been lifted, though roads throughout the region remain treacherous.

The BBC reports that in Canada, heavy snow fell on Ontario. New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Newfoundland are under blizzard watches.
