Golden Bear award won by Romanian

Director Calin Peter Netzer of Romania has won the Golden Bear for best motion picture at the Berlin film festival on Saturday.

His film Pozitia Copilului (Child's Pose) is a tale of corruption and guilt in modern Romania.

It tells the story of a rich domineering woman who bribes witnesses into giving false statements to get her son acquitted after he killed a poor teenager with his car.

Director Danis Tanovic of Bosnia won the Jury Grand Prix for An Episode in the Life of an Iron Picker, with the best actor award going to its lead, Nazif Mujic.

The movie is about Mujic's experiences on the fringes of Bosnian society.

Best actress award went to Paulina Garcia of Chile for her role as a Santiago divorcee in Gloria.
