Another cyclone off Australian coast

Another cyclone has formed off the northern coast of Queensland.

Cyclone Sandra, the second of the season, formed in the Coral Sea on Thursday night, about 990km north-east of Mackay.

The ABC reports it is slowly moving north-east and is predicted to intensify over the next 24 hours.

However, Weather Bureau senior forecaster Bryan Rolstone said Sandra is expected to remain well out to sea until the middle of next week at least and not affect the coast.

Many coastal communities are still cleaning up after Oswald caused widespread flooding earlier this year.
