Two asylum seekers drown off Christmas Is

A woman and a young boy are dead after an asylum seeker boat carrying 95 people capsized off Christmas Island.

The Australian Government has confirmed two people drowned and another two people are seriously injured, including a pregant woman.

An Australian Customs boat in the area plucked 93 people from the water and took them to Christmas Island after the fishing boat overturned, the ABC reports.

Those rescued included two Australian Customs officers.
