Fiji extends deadline for constitution submissions

8:32 pm on 2 April 2013

The deadline for submissions on Fiji's draft constitution has been extended until 26 April.

Fiji's military leader, Commodore Frank Bainimarama, had earlier announced that all submissions were to be handed in by this Friday.

But the Commodore confirmed the deadline extension in a radio talkback show.

Fiji Live reports him as saying submission and consultation periods have been extended because of the number of requests received for an extension.

Commodore Bainimarama says all submissions about the draft constitution will be taken into consideration.
