An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 7 has struck off northern Japan.
The United States Geological Survey says the quake's epicentre was 275km northeast of the Kuril Islands at a depth of 10km on Friday afternoon.
Buildings in Tokyo also shook from the quake.
No tsunami warning has been issued.
On Wednesday, a series of quakes, including one with a preliminary magnitude of 6.2, hit Japan's Miyake island, about 180km south of Tokyo.
