Anzac Cove seawall repaired

A damaged seawall at Gallipoli has been repaired in time for Anzac Day commemorations on Thursday.

The concrete wall was built two years ago to protect and preserve Anzac Cove from further erosion, but a very harsh Turkish winter took its toll on the structure.

The ABC reports it has been fixed as part of a Turkish government maintenance programme at Anzac Cove.

Meanwhile, US President Barack Obama and Secretary of State John Kerry have sent their best wishes to Australia and New Zealand for Anzac Day.

Mr Kerry said the United States was honoured to have such strong partners in promoting peace and prosperity in the world.

He said America celebrates the bond that Australians and New Zealanders have gained through their shared sacrifice and reflect on the virtues of hope, courage, and freedom that unite the three nations.
